Eden Court
A trailer park on the outskirts of town. Shroeder Duncan is turning thirty and besieged by intimations of mortality. His wife Bonnie is mystified by his misery and distracted by a ticking clock of her own. So while he spends his day inventorying the emptiness of his existence and refining his secret plan to escape it, she spends hers baking a cake. But by day’s end Shroeder’s escape plan is in shambles, his cake is destroyed, and his existence is even emptier than before. In a panic of despair he musters the courage for one last desperate bid for self respect. Unfortunately he can’t quite muster enough. His self-loathing is now complete. And so deafening it drives him outside himself, where he’s startled to find someone who doesn’t find him loathsome. Someone whose opinions perhaps deserves to be heard. And so begins his journey to happiness. Where love trumps truth and laughter is the final arbiter.
